Language in belarusia

Hi!
We are planning to be a host family for a belarusian child (between 6
and 13 yrs old). Will they be more likely to speak Russian or
Belarussian, or both? We really hope to be able to communicate
somewhat in Russian which my wife speaks a little. Thanks for your

Hello!

Most of the people in Belarus generally speak Russian. But either Russian
and Belarussian are considered to be official languages of the Republic of
Belarus and both are taught in schools. Besides, these languages do not
differ much.
